Born and raised in Almaty, Rustem 'midclassgypsy' — is a DJ, event curator, and emerging producer. For the past six years, he developed a sharp ear for a wide spectrum of musical influences, set VIHOD to become an essential party label in Kazakhstan and recently commenced as a producer.

'midclassgypsy's passion for pushing boundaries and love for digging into unexpected rhythms define his style — rhythmic, eclectic, and dance-driven. His energetic sets are centered on house music, but effortlessly weaving along the spectrum from world grooves and rare disco to global club sounds and bass music.

‘Infectious grooves and world rhythms. Forgotten anthems and secret gems’ - this philosophy led him to record the first Beatport Mix event in Kazakhstan, held in August 2024, placing his sound on a global platform.

For the past 4 years, Rus has been a main driving force behind VIHOD — a vital platform for underground dance music in Kazakhstan. VIHOD has been both a launchpad and a learning ground: a starting point for Rus to begin organizing and co-producing a wide range of international acts for the party itself and beyond, including Flowdan, Jamz Supernova, Kapela, Juba, Kikelomo, Pedro Bertho, Dunia Label Showcase, Kasseta, Lovanda and more. VIHOD became the platform to showcase international artists and sounds in Almaty as well as broadcast the Kazakhstani scene to the world — creating space for exchange and building bridges across borders. In 2025, VIHOD made a collaboration and organized the first Keep Hush event in Central Asia, marking a new chapter for ‘midclassgypsy’ and the region’s cultural visibility.

Beyond the parties and gigs, 2023 marked 'midclassgypsy's first release as a producers with unreleased material already circulating in local parties and international DJ booths like HOR Berlin and etc. More music is on the way in 2025 as he continues developing his voice as a producer.
