Welcome to the AL.Festival takeover at Refuge Worldwide! As part of the 2025 edition, we are having daily shows on Refuge Worldwide where we will be interviewing and discussing music, culture, and resistance with our community and artists participating in the festival. Today we have the great privilege to share an hour with LOINESSA, a DJ and music producer guided by ancient, chaotic and mischievous feminine forces. Her sets draw from a global upbringing in Egypt and across the Middle East, shaped by years in the West Coast rave scene. She is the co-founder of Egyptian Street Meat, an all Egyptian artist collective, and a curator focused on building intentional, femme centric club spaces in Vancouver and her hometown Cairo. We will be talking about political identity in nightlife, what it takes to produce culturally nuanced events and expectations faced by SWANA artists today.
