I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome one of my all-time favorite funk and boogie artists for an exclusive interview on 100% Radio — the incredible Mac Thornhill. I first stumbled across his music years ago when I discovered “No Way to Control It”, and I was instantly captivated by that soulful, expressive voice. One track led to another, and suddenly I found myself deep in his catalog — that’s when “Boogie Fire” hit me. To this day, it remains one of my absolute favorite boogie-funk songs ever: the unmistakable bassline, the storytelling, the energy, the feeling of something burning and unstoppable… truly a masterpiece of its era. And Mac Thornhill isn't just a master of boogie - he moves effortlessly between R&B, dance music, and even house. On top of that, he's a true multi-instrumentalist, bringing a musician's depth to everything he touches.
So when I was invited to create a 100% Radio show, Mac Thornhill was the very first name that came to mind. Also known under names like Mac Mac, he’s been active for more than three decades — not only releasing his own music, but also writing and producing for others. He even recorded an album with his sister Cheryl, and now collaborates with his son, who has just begun his own musical journey.
Despite all this, Mac Thornhill remains an artist who, in my opinion, is still underrated — and that’s exactly why I’m so excited to share this conversation with you. It’s not easy to find interviews with him, so this is a rare chance to hear his story directly from the source.
Tune in, dive into the groove, and enjoy this special edition of 100% Radio featuring the one and only Mac Thornhill.
